Billet is the product obtained after casting the steel made in the steel making furnace.
There are two main types from the shape:
1. Slabs: the ratio of cross-sectional width and height is larger, mainly used for rolling plates.
2. Billet: cross-section width and height are equal, or the difference is not large, mainly used for rolling steel sections, wire rod.

Process
Billets are produced by three process methods:
One is the direct casting of billets from molten steel through the continuous casting equipment of the steelmaking system;Secondly, semi-finished steel products processed from ingots or continuous casting billets produced by the steelmaking system through the rolling equipment of the steel rolling system;
Thirdly, semi-finished products of steel ingots produced by the steelmaking system through forging equipment.
